Caver surveying

Many years and uncounted trips trying to get into the head of this remote valley have more than paid off with the discovery of this truly incredible heritage site.

The cave passage is only short but contains a spectacular number of bones – from smaller than finger sized to large moa leg bones. It is the first time cavers have returned after the initial exploration with the specific purpose to document the cave passage and install a DoC sign highlighting the sensitive nature of this particular site.
